Blurb:
Escaping from the persecution of the European witch hunts, a beautiful witch with the power to control the wind joins forces with a handsome Cavalier on a mission to save the King of England and the colony of Virginia.
Catlin Glyndwr is a tenth generation Mistress of Elements — a hereditary witch who can call upon her elemental spirits for assistance in casting spells.
Accused of witchcraft in seventeenth century England, she faces the hangman. Even though she took a vow never to hurt anyone with her magic, if her true powers are revealed, she’ll be executed.
Sir Griffin Reynolds is on his way to the colony of Virginia, on a secret mission to locate Puritan rebels intent upon seizing the throne of King Charles II. When his best friend becomes deathly ill while interrogating a beautiful Welsh maiden accused of using magic to attack a local official – Griffin is forced to strike a bargain with her in order to save his friend’s life.
When Catlin and Griffin travel together on a voyage to the American colonies, they try to resist the pull of erotic sensuality that flares between them. It is a temptation they both soon crave. But danger lurks aboard ship and evil haunts Catlin. She must learn how her destiny is linked with that of the man who has vowed to protect her.
In a dangerous and unexplored world, where superstition exists along side the new discoveries of science, powerful elemental spirits are capable of assisting the magical adepts. But there is always danger in harnessing magic and a price to pay when one calls to the spirit world for help.
While Griffin tries to deny his attraction to Catlin, she works her own special magic on his heart and he discovers he cannot resist falling under her sensual spell.
Together, Catlin and Griffin learn that a journey of the heart requires courage, trust and the ability to believe in the astonishing gift of love.
Tagline: A beautiful witch discovers there’s more then one way to be wicked!
Mapping Your Way to Success: Goal Setting
Sibelle Stone
For many writers, the challenge to
reaching their career goals begins with learning to set goals.
What is a goal? Something you want to
achieve within a specific period of time. Based on what YOU can do, not based
on the actions of outside people. Goals help you organize your time and stay on
track.
Example: I will sell my book to a Big 6
publisher.
You don’t control this
No specific timeframe
Measureable only if you do or don’t
accomplish it, no possible revision
Better Goal: I will query 6 agents about
my completed manuscript (XX) by June 1, 2012.
SMART Goals
A useful way of making goals more
powerful is to use the SMART mnemonic. While there are plenty of variants (some
of which we've included in parenthesis), SMART usually stands for:
S - Specific (or Significant).
M - Measurable (or Meaningful).
A - Attainable (or Action-Oriented).
R - Relevant (or Rewarding).
T - Time-bound (or Trackable).
Creating Goals:
List Method – What do I want to
accomplish in 10 years? 5 years? In 2012?
Career Plan for Authors – What do you
want and how will you know when you arrive at your destination? What factors
influence this goal?
MindMap – A drawing of your goal and all
the “baby steps” you need to take to achieve it.
Journaling – Keep writing down things you
want to do/accomplish as you think of them over a week. Then organize them into
goals.
Prioritize Your Activity
Choose (3) main goals and work on those.
Too many goals = too many distractions.
Be realistic, what can you accomplish in
the stated period of time?
Performance, not outcome. What factors do
you control?
You MUST write your goals down.
Create a monthly goal chart, then weekly,
then a daily To Do list. This breaks your individual tasks into manageable
bits. And you can always move things around.
Schedule a regular review of your goals.
What do you need to achieve your goal?
Education
Research
Reading/Books
Other people
Beware the Fear Monster! Fear of failure
or success can be the biggest roadblock to achieving your goal.
Figure out what works for you, and then
keep using it.
