Hello Mila, thanks for having me here on
your blog as part of the book tour for Engaging the Enemy, my latest hot
historical romance. To celebrate the release, we’re giving away a copy of the ebook

There are many days when I enjoy the
challenge of learning something new. As a historical writer, I’m always reading
and discovering new facets of history. But a modern writer has many more challenges
to face: social networking and blogging being the most talked about and time
consuming activities that I know of. If you’ve chosen to self-publish, your to-do
list in preparation for a book release increases exponentially.
As a break from it all, as a bit of
sideways diversion, I set about studying what makes a great book cover and what
doesn’t. Learning how to use Photoshop to make book covers and banners has been
great fun over the past year. The challenge of moving a car that wasn’t
apparent in the watermarked image of the house I chose to depict Romsey Abbey
isn’t now too big an obstacle, nor was the many antennae that jutted from the
roofline of this grand old house.
But there is one learning curve that
utterly stumped me in the preparation for the book release of Engaging the
Enemy.
I’m apparently book trailer challenged.
There I said it. I thought for a few days that I might be able to master the
art of creating a movie trailer myself, but after many frustrating hours I eventually
threw up my hands in defeat and passed the job along to someone who could definitely
do a better job than me.
To make a trailer you have to find the
right music, the right images and text to narrate the story. I found the first,
found some of the second but lacked the skills to bring them together to create
an attention grabbing trailer. It dawdled along like an old man about to get on
a train. I don't really mind sharing my short comings. I like to learn but I'm
willing to accept there are limits to what I can achieve. I accept that I
cannot ignore cheesecake and chocolate when they are set before me, and that
spiders scare the heck out of me.
The amazing Suzie Grant (fellow historical
