Anna James with Isabella's Dilemma

Let’s welcome Anna James to the blog! Her novel, Isabella’s Dilemma, is now available at Sugar and Spice Press.

Anna, can you tell us a little bit about your novel?

I’d love to!

Isabella Sheridan took over running the Sheridan advertising agency, which her father Jack Sheridan owned, after he was diagnosed with cancer.

Jake McAllister, Jack’s trusted employee and protégé, was asked by Jack to help Isabella run the agency during his absence.

Isabella does not like Jake McAllister. She resents his presence at the agency. He is difficult to work with, has a hostile attitude toward her and is constantly making decisions about the business without consulting her.

Six months after her father’s death Isabella learns that Jake was not just an employee, he was Jack’s business partner. With his half of the company, combined with the shares he obtained from Isabella’s brother Allen, Jake is now in control.

Jake McAllister does not like Isabella Sheridan. She is always challenging him on the business decisions he makes and her lack of morals, both in her personal and professional life drives him crazy. He wants her out!

Finally, Isabella can take it no more and quits the agency.

Several weeks later Jake is forced to ask Isabella to come back because many of their clients are threatening to leave. He offers Isabella an equal partnership. They will run the company together.

Isabella is reluctant to return for two reasons: Although Jake had said they would have an equal partnership nothing had really changed between them. But more troubling was the memory of a passionate kiss they had shared one night after an argument. How could she respond to him with so much passion? She doesn’t even like Jake!

Isabella returns to the agency and to her surprise Jake is true to his word. They run the agency together. He is no longer hostile towards her. In fact just the opposite; he is sweet and charming and before long Isabella finds that she is deeply in love with Jake. Miraculously Jake is seems to feel the same way.

Just when Isabella believes they will have a future together everything goes wrong.

Jake finds Isabella in the arms of a potential client only hours after she’d made passionate love with him. His old fears return.

Will Jake and Isabella resolve their differences and find love or will past perceptions be too much to overcome?

What led you to write this book?

There wasn’t anything specific that inspired me to write Isabella’s Dilemma. As with most of my stories it started with an idea. In this case the idea was a hero and heroine that are forced to work together due to extenuating circumstances. They don’t initially like each other based on several misconceptions. Add to that passion, drama and, of course, romance and you get the current story now available from Sugar and Spice Press.

What was the biggest challenge you faced writing this book, and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge in writing this book came when I went back to work. I had to put the story on hold for a long period of time and it was difficult to try to remember where I wanted it to go when I finally had the opportunity to get back to it.
I overcame the challenge by going in a new direction. I re-wrote sections as needed to fit into the new story line and I am happy with the results.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Anna James and I write stories that allow women to take a break from everyday life and get lost in a world filled with passion, drama and, of course, romance!
